  1. Can I get roses any time of the year? YES! Roses are available year round and depending on variety, may come from California or South America.

  2. Are some flowers more expensive if they are out of season? Basically, if a flower variety is out of season it is simply not available at all. Some flowers, like roses, are more expensive at certain times of the year. For example, Valentine's Day drives up the cost of roses due to supply and demand. The flower farms raise their prices which are passed on to the wholesaler and the retailer. It has nothing to do with availability.

  3. I bought flowers at the grocery store and they only lasted 3 days why is that? There is no telling how old the flowers were before you bought them. Flowers are cut on the flower farm and shipped directly to the flower markets where buyers bid on them. Then they are shipped to our local wholesaler overnight. They may spend up to two days at the wholesale house before the buyer from the store orders and receives them. More than likely, the flowers you purchase at the grocery store, and often times even your local florist, are already 5 days old before you buy them.
BridalBlooms.com and BunchesOfFlowers.com order direct from the wholesaler ensuring that the flowers you receive are not more than two days young when you receive them.

  4. How long should flowers last? It depends on the variety, but most flowers should last from one week to 10 days. Tulips and Iris do not have a shelf life of more than 5-7-days.

  5. Should I put sugar or aspirin in the water to help my flowers live longer? This is not necessary. Sugar can clog up the stems of some flowers and aspirin has no effect on them. The best thing to do is to change the water every day or every other day. Also, do not put in direct sun, under a fan or smoke around flowers - they really don't like it.

  6. My roses arrived with the outer petals bruised - Is this normal? Yes, very normal. The roses are cut on the flower farm and the farm does not take off the outer petals. so when you receive them simply peel off the 2-3 outer bruised ones and your roses will look beautiful.
